What is your best chess opening strategy?

For me, its moving the pawn from d2 to d4. What I do from there usually depends on how the other player moves. But I usually try to castle on the king side as soon as possible because later in the game every move seems to count twice as much.
timptini - I used to try to castle as late as possible but I later found that I would be getting checked if I waited too long.

So it's basically designed so that if anything is taken theres always a piece of yours that can go right in and take the piece that just took yours.
